2Baba the Nigerian music icon, has finally spoken out about his fallout with Blackface over the hit song “African Queen.” In a recent interview, 2Baba explained that the song was a collaboration, stating, “I always say it clearly, it was a collaboration. I wrote most of the song, he also contributed, and that is how music works sometimes.”

While discussing the controversy, 2Baba mentioned that the legal documents and contracts clearly outline how the song was created, showing the official split between both artists. However, he revealed that what truly upset him wasn’t the disagreement over the song but the false claims that followed.

He said “What pains me is not the argument but the lies that followed. We went to court, did arbitration, he signed an agreement not to repeat those claims and apologized.” Despite the settlement, 2Baba expressed that he kept the matter private because he didn’t want to drag Blackface into public drama.

Reflecting on the situation, 2Baba said, “Till today I still wonder why someone I respected chose to keep smearing my name. I get mad sometimes, because the words are absurd and hurtful.” However, he clarified that the chapter is now closed for him, stating, “One day he will explain his reasons himself, but for me that chapter is closed in my mind.”

This ongoing tension between 2Baba and Blackface has been a topic of public discussion for years, but it seems 2Baba has made peace with the past and is ready to move on.
