Former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has shared a strong message with Nigerians, urging everyone to come together and take responsibility for the country’s future.

Speaking during the 6th Annual Colloquium held to celebrate the 65th birthday of Itua Ighodalo, Obasanjo made it clear that Nigeria cannot move forward unless its people unite and work together.

The event, themed “The Future of Nigeria,” brought together different voices to discuss the country’s progress and what needs to be done moving forward.

Obasanjo, who was represented by Prof. Adedeji Daramola of the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute, stressed that building a better Nigeria is not the job of the government alone. According to him, everyone from market traders to professionals and political leaders has a role to play.

He warned Nigerians not to expect sudden change without effort. In his words, real progress requires action, commitment, and accountability from all citizens.

One of the key points he made was about unity. He emphasized that until Nigerians come together with a common goal, meaningful development will remain difficult to achieve.

The former president also spoke about the importance of young people in shaping the nation’s future. He described Nigeria’s youth population as a strong advantage, especially if properly supported with opportunities in technology and innovation.

He encouraged leaders and stakeholders to invest in areas like digital skills and modern technology, including artificial intelligence, to empower young Nigerians and drive long term growth.
